FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When are my creditors notified I filed bankruptcy?

Approximately two weeks after you file your petition, the clerk's office will send a notice that you have filed for bankruptcy protection to all the creditors you have listed on your mailing matrix.

The notice also informs them of the date of the meeting of creditors. If you need to notify any of your creditors sooner, you must give them notice of your bankruptcy filing yourself.

No official form is required, but your creditors may ask you for verification. If this occurs just give them your case number over the phone or fax them a copy of your stamped filing receipt.
